Work with Dr. Merritt

One physician, in it with you, in the size your family needs.

Everything that matters on this site is free. This page is the other part: what it costs to have me in the room with you, from a single look at the real file to the whole year and beyond. Every price is here, in the open, not hidden behind a "free consultation" sales pitch.

Most families need only the free library and maybe one look. A few want me in the year. Tell me where your student is, and I will show you the doors that fit.

Where is your student right now?

Not sure which is you? Start with Where You Stand. Five minutes, free, and it points you to the right door for your student's grade.

Getting in is half the job. I stay for the other half.

The admissions industry sells the application. Every quote I have seen from the big firms ends at the acceptance, and when a firm does mention post-acceptance help, it means the weeks between offers and enrollment. But a guaranteed seat still has to be kept, and keeping it is a different job than winning it. I have not found another firm that stays for that job. I do, as a practicing physician and a former Assistant Dean in Brown's PLME.

Other firmsGuide the application, then stop at the acceptance.
With meThe application, the decision, and the first semester of college that follows.

This is what Dean's List is built around: the full cycle, and your student's first semester of college, no matter how the cycle ends. Past that first semester, the staying continues through The Private Dean, $3,000 per semester for as long as it helps, whether your family comes through Dean's List or arrives already in.

Published packages at the big firms run fourteen to thirty-three thousand dollars for a roster of associates who go silent at the acceptance. This is me, personally, inside the same range, and I stay.

Who is telling you this

Dr. Rory Merritt

I am a practicing physician today and a former Assistant Dean in Brown's Program in Liberal Medical Education, the university's BS/MD program, where I advised hundreds of undergraduate and medical students. I co-chaired the national group for combined BA and MD programs at the AAMC, and I have published peer-reviewed research on BS/MD programs.

The rest of the proof is this website. This field runs on hype and hidden prices, so I built the opposite: every answer free, every price on the page. Read twenty pages and you will have watched me work before paying me anything. That is the point. Judge the work first.

Two families I have worked with, in their own words.

“We wanted clear guidance for the BS/MD route and a better understanding of how to prepare for a competitive process. I would tell another parent that this guidance is very helpful if their child is serious about the BS/MD path. It gives the family direction, accountability, and more confidence during a stressful process. Dr. Rory is very helpful, trustworthy and understanding.”

“What worried me most was the sheer volume of competition and the lack of clarity on what truly moves the needle for these hyper-selective programs. The Match gave us a clear, data-driven framework for our daughter's narrative that we couldn't have built on our own. It felt like we finally had an insider's map. Between the 2026 program list and the match report, we are preparing with eyes wide open. Worth the investment if you are serious about the BS/MD path.”

The promise, and the premise

My promise is on the work, not the result. No one can promise a BS/MD admission, and I never will.

Every paid option stands alone. If it is not right for your student, I say so before we begin.

Dean's List families in this first cohort lock their rate, and it holds for any continued work with me, through graduation. There is no clock on this page, no countdown and no invented shortage.

Start where it costs nothing.

Where You Stand is free and takes five minutes. It tells you where your student stands and which door, if any, fits your family. Just your email, no call and no pressure.
